With deep ties to the area, the James family wanted to once again have a local presence in the community while creating a business that builds on the skills and experience already found within the family.

Steve James and his sons have a strong background and natural niche in diesel mechanics, making James Auto & Diesel a perfect extension of the family’s existing business, Steve James Excavating & D&M Construction.

Operating an excavation and construction company means maintaining a fleet of trucks and equipment is already an important part of the day-to-day operation. Having their own automotive and diesel facility, along with knowledgeable staff, allows the company to maintain and repair its own fleet, complete DOT inspections and help keep equipment and vehicles safely on the road.

But the James family saw an opportunity to offer those same capabilities to the community.

James Auto & Diesel provides local customers and businesses with a convenient hometown option for automotive and diesel repair, oil changes, brakes, tires, diagnostics, DOT inspections and routine maintenance. From the family car or pickup to work trucks and fleet vehicles, the goal is to provide dependable service backed by experience and small-town values.

For the James family, the businesses naturally complement one another. What began as a way to better support the needs of their own construction and excavation operation has grown into an opportunity to provide a valuable service to Elysian and the surrounding communities.
