Santa made the rounds to stores participating in "Christmas in Elysian" Thursday evening.
He listened to Ellie Nygren (center) and Sydney Mitchell (right) share their Christmas wishes. For Ellie, it was a doll.
After a little coaxing from the jolly old elf, Sydney said she was hoping to find a puppy under the tree.

Christmas in Elysian brings holiday shoppers to town
To kick off the holiday season, the Elysian business community organized a special night out for shoppers. They offered treats and deals during the first-time event which involved extended hours.
"We're really proud of the stores and businesses we have in Elysian," said Bob Childs, Chamber of Commerce president. "This evening was about showcasing those businesses and encouraging residents to shop local for the holidays."
Those participating included: EllieGail's Bakery & Deli, Elysian Enterprise, Fischer's Corner Bar, Greenwald Greenhouse and Landscaping, Gumbo's Creations, Mama's Mercantile, Nana's Nook, Of the Earth, Optimum Fitness Center, The Bear's Den, The Pit Stop, The Store, Tucker's Tavern, and Vintage Variety Antiques.
Shoppers visiting each store had their guide signed by merchants, then turned it in for a prize drawing. Bernice Kuehn was the winner, taking home $100 in Elysian Dollars for her next shopping trip in Elysian.
