The City of Elysian launched it's new web site Monday.  Mayor Mack Evans gave a sneak peek at the design in October, unveiling it at the community's Volunteer Appreciation event.

The look of the site is built around a familiar image for Elysianites - the lily pad.  For a city surrounded by lakes,

it was a natural choice.

"That image signifies many positives about Elysian," explained Pat Nusbaum, City Clerk Administrator.

"Healthy lakes, fishing, recreation, the natural beauty of our area and most importantly, that Elysian is a blossoming, welcoming community."

The debut of www.elysianmn.com comes at a time when the city is bustling with holiday activities.  According to

Nusbaum, one of the key ways the new site will serve Elysian is by keeping residents informed about community happenings through the Events page.

The Elysian Economic Development Authority (EDA) sponsors the web site to serve the information needs of current and newcoming residents, to provide facts for potential developers and to promote the city's tourism opportunities.

Elysian's place on the web receives 6,000 visitors a year.  Site statistics indicate their top 3 interests are learning about recreation activities, economic opportunity and the WEM Public Schools.  The months of May through July see the most traffic from visitors looking to include camping, fishing or a bike trek in their vacation plans.

City leaders expect the number of online guests to grow due to increasing interest in their community.

"Not one day goes by without my hearing what a great place Elysian has become," said Mayor Evans who described the new web site as "a calling card for our quaintly progressive small town."

Elysian has seen significant growth in the past few years with over 100 homes and businesses springing up since 2000.  The City Hall staff learned that new residents and business owners come with high expectations for city services and access to information.  To meet those needs, Nusbaum indicated the City would be utilizing the web site to keep residents connected, publicize city developments and promote community events.

Elysian on-line can be found at www.elysianmn.com.
