To say there is progress in the City of Elysian may just be the understatement of the year...not just this year but for many years.

Since the year 2000, the city has exploded residentially and also in the business district, with more than 100 new homes and businesses being built in the past four years.

A total of 93 new homes have been built, including 18 units at Woodbine Townhomes.

Much of the building boom has come from the annexation of more than 230 acres into the city limits.

Since 1988 the city has annexed Lake View Manor (49 units - 16 units complete), Roots Beach Lane (18 homes), Chestnuts (29 homes) and Roemhildt's Waters Edge Addition (101 lots, 62 lots being developed now - 39 completed).

Just this year alone, more than 100 lots have been specified, including 71 lots in Taylor's Pine Ridge, 26 lots in Sakatah Trail Estate, 14 lots in Kaplans Development/Murra Property and six lots in Ray's Lake Estates.  Benedict Development and Roessler Development have also been annexed and the number of lots have yet to be determined.

Not only have housing developments run wild, but more than a dozen new businesses have been started since 1991.

They include:  Elysian Auto Service, Billy's Gas & Convenience Station, Tucker's Tavern Restaurant & Bar, Murphy Carpeting and Flooring, Pizza Palace, Salt of the Earth Gifts and Coffee, Iron Horse Collectibles, A Step Back in Time Addition, Pit Stop Addition, Car Wash/Pet Wash (construction starting), Clayton Roemhildt & Sons Concrete, Breckners Storage, Cory Atherton Walls and Landscaping and the Elysian Enterprise move to Century 21 building.
