Elysian's Town Toast

September 2004

"The day Elysian was the toast of the town"

In the fall of 2004, city leaders anounced they were launching a web site to promote Elysian. Mayor Evans wanted community members to be there when he unveiled the new site design. He wanted something special planned to celebrate the good things that were going on in Elysian. The city experienced incredible growth through residential development and new businesses were opening.

"This town is the toast of the area," Evans said. And the idea for the "Town Toast" was born.

At the annual Volunteer Appreciation night, guests were greeted at the door with champagne flutes filled with sparkling ginger ale. Mayor Evans kicked off the event by sharing how proud he was of the community and invited everyone to gather on Main Street to take part in a toast to Elysian. The media was there to capture the moment.

At summer's end, the community gathered to celebrate their successes

and show appreciation for the many volunteers that make Elysian great.
