Miss Elysian pageant kicks off 4th of July celebration

Hilary Howson was crowned Miss Elysian, the sixth young woman to hold the title. Howson is attended by Jasmine Kinyon and Meghan Houlihan. Junior royalty include Princess of the Lakes Ellie Nygren and attendants Grace Factor and Jordyn Frechette. The royal court will reign over the 4th of July celebration and represent Elysian at numerous community events during the coming year.

Jane Carter served as emcee for the pageant which officially kicked off a weekend of activities that draws thousands to Elysian.
The girls competed for the crown through talent and interviews. Jasmine Kinyon was chosen as Miss Congeniality, Hilary Howson received the talent award for singing "A Peaceful Gloria" in latin accompanied by her mother on piano.
Contestant sponsors included the Elysian Bank, sponsoring Meghan Houlihan, daughter of Dan and Cathy Houlihan. Of the Earth Salon and Alley Scoops sponsored Jasmine Kinyon, daughter of Tad and Kelly Kinyon. Miss Elysian, Hilary Howson, is sponsored by Elysian Auto and Elysian Insurance Agency.
Over 40 area business and individuals come together to support Elysian's 4th of July including providing prizes for the queen contest. Miss Elysian and attendants receive scholarships, tiaras, sashes and a year filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
